Rev. Craig S. Davies, Pastor

With his wife Marcia, and children Tim and Becky, Craig came to FPC in September of 1993.  He had previously served churches in Lake Worth, FL, Royal Oak, MI, Littleton, CO, and Fort Myers, FL. Craig is a graduate of Grove City College and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Craig is an avid sports fan and enjoys golf, traveling, and reading. He also enjoys spending time with his granddaughters, Lea and Emily. Craig is the Head of Staff and Moderator of Session. He preaches on most Sundays and is a staff liaison to the Budget and Finance, Care of Congregation, Mission, Nominating, Outreach, Personnel, Property, Stewardship, and Worship Committees. He enjoys teaching new member classes and occasional Bible studies. Craig is also a trained Stephen Leader and Bethel Bible Study teacher. He presently serves on the Personnel Committee of the Presbytery of Tampa Bay and has taught new elder training classes for the Presbytery’s annual Super Saturday Leadership Training event. Craig also is a member of the Rotary Club of Inverness, a past President of the Clergy Association, and regularly leads devotions for the doctors and nurses associated with Citrus Memorial Hospital’s heart surgery unit.

Rev. Michael E. Fonfara, D. Min.,Parish Associate

Rev. Mike Fonfara joined FPC in December of 2008 and lives in Beverly Hills with his wife, Rev. Lynn Fonfara. Together they have five children and eleven grandchildren. Rev. Fonfara has varied educational and pastoral experiences. He graduated from Michigan’s Alma College (B.A.), Evanston, IL’s Garrett Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Hyde Park, IL’s McCormick Theological Seminary (D.Min.). His Christian service includes five parishes, honorary retirement as Chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, years of ministry in Presbyterian retirement communities, and more than a dozen years as a published columnist/photo journalist. As a part-time Parish Associate, Pastor Mike participates in Sunday worship, preaches when assigned, visits people at home, as well as in hospitals, and teaches classes. This position is well suited for his Honorably Retired status in the Presbytery of Tampa Bay. He enjoys cooking (and, therefore, eating), good jokes, trying to control the household cats, and daily use of contemplative Christian practices.

Denise Lay, Director of Educational Ministries

Denise joined the staff at First Presbyterian Church in 2003. She enjoys working with people of all ages. Her responsibilities encompass a broad area from the nursery to the senior adult program of the church. She is also an active Stephen Leader and involved in several committees through the Presbytery of Tampa Bay and the Synod of the South Atlantic.  Denise is a native Floridian and currently lives in Hernando with her husband, Mike, daughter, Hannah, and mom, Katie. She enjoys reading, swimming, playing Wii games, and spending time with her family.

Karen Medrano, Director of Music Ministries

Karen joined First Presbyterian Church in 2007.  She lived in Ventura County, CA for 46 years where she began to study music at age 8.  A music major in college, Karen moved to Inverness in 2005.  She has sung and played in many different churches and theater groups and has previously directed the women’s choir at Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church, and the Meadowcrest Choristers.  Karen is an active member of the Central Florida Master Choir and the Citrus County Community Chorus.

Harry Hershey, Organist ,

Harry joined us in September of 2007.  Harry is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, OH.  He was a music teacher in the Euclid, OH public school system for 30 years.  Harry was organist for the Cleveland Indians, band leader of a 14 piece orchestra, director of the Euclid Civic Orchestra, and music director of Playhouse Square in Cleveland.  Besides having accompanied celebrities such as Bob Hope, The Andrew Sisters, and Elvis Presley, Harry played piano with the Harry James and Guy Lombardo orchestras.

The Session
The Session is made up of the Pastors and 18 Elders serving three year terms on a rotating basis. They are charged with maintaining the spiritual governance of the church and have authority over all church activities. The Session does much of its work through various committees and task forces.

The Deacons
The Deacons are charged by the Session with certain specific responsibilities within the local church. At First Presbyterian of Inverness, the Deacons are responsible for assisting the pastors with the care of the congregation and its members. The Deacons also do their work by various committees.
