CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Let us make a place for God in the wilderness of our hearts. Let us make a way for Him in the desert of our emotions. Let us make room for Him in the crowdedness of the season. Let us worship Him now with praise and singing!
*HYMN #9 “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) We call You light, O Lord, yet we walk in darkness. We call You love, yet we despise those who are unlike ourselves. We call You joy, yet we live in depression and unhappiness. Forgive us, dear Lord, and convert us to Your way. Let the power of Your salvation change us into the people we were meant to be, that Your light and love may fill our lives forever and we may praise Your name with our whole hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (followed by a period of silent confession) *ASSURANCE OF PARDON (responsive) Hear the good news! If we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin. And alive to God in Christ Jesus. Friends, believe the good news. In Jesus Christ, by grace through faith, we are forgiven. Amen.

IN RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (unison) We believe in a God of salvation who came to us in Christ Jesus, the unique Son. He was born as a babe in Bethlehem. In His youth He was a carpenter in Nazareth. As an adult He taught and healed, preached and prayed, and was friend to the friendless. As a young man He was killed. He died on a cross like any common criminal. In His death, He paid the penalty of sin for all persons. The third day after His burial, He arose victorious over sin and death. We hold that the meaning of life is found in a faith relationship to Jesus Christ. We submit to His rule of love in our hearts now and forever. Amen.
